So I noticed our guild is mostly PVE. But, snow and me are very into pvp, and some of the new recruits might dig it too.
But, PvP is a very rough place on newer players. Therefore, I have decided to post a couple of guides etc on our forum to help those wanting to start in PvP. Notice that Snow and me are always there if you want help or suggestions.
In this post I will highlight a couple of general issues reguarding PvP, and the differences and similarities with PvE.
I hope it might motivate starters, as the PvP world is way too cruel on them :p

Wikihttp://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Main_PageThis site contains many good/interesting builds. They are handy, especially if you are new to a certain arena and unsure of what to use.
Snow and me also have many good builds. If you need any help ever, we know most of PvP.
1)
The PlayersThe main difference with PvE is that you're fighting with and against human beings instead of computers. A very demotivating thing is that these humans flame everybody. Keep in mind that most guild wars players are kids, and that insults WILL be made (especially if you're new). Ignoring works best. DO NOT be disencouraged by this. It is normal for you to make many mistakes in the beginning.
Also notice that humans will react far smarter to situations than computers (well they should). So where Ray of Judgement may be unfairly strong in PvE, it's moderately weak in PvE.
2)
The BuildsBuilds are more important in PvP than in PvE. In PvE, a good general idea is usually enough for ownage, and you can fill the holes up with polyvalent PVE-only skills such as asuran summons. In PvP, this is all out of the question. Every build has it's goal, it's limitations and it's variants. Finetuning and adjusting to your preferences is the key.
New players will find that they have to "buy" most skills with balthazar faction. This is harsh. Good ways include trying Alliance Battle (where your individual actions will rarely effect victory or gained faction) or PVE things that give faction.
3)
EquipmentIn PvP, this suddenly becomes a big deal. Equipment is freely obtainable (you have to unlock with balthazar factions too though) and customizable. Areanet balances skills out in a way that equipment can decide over victory or loss. Some builds can produce a spike damage of 630 in a mere 2-3 seconds. If your health is 630 (not uncommon in pvp), then any damage reduction on your equipment can buy you that extra second in which a monk can heal you.
Runes are imortant too. Major and superior runes are only rarely used (except for a rune of superior vigor, which is used everywhere) due to the -50 or -75 health. Maximum health IS what often determines victory or loss.
